Can Water Mean Business?

Since the moment you learn how to turn on the faucet, you also learn that you should turn off the faucet when you don't use it in order to saver water. And also learn some facts such as purifying a drop of milk costs 1.6 liter of water. Therefore, everybody knows the importance of water. But not many knows that water can be business. Some might see it in a negative way in that using natural resource as a way to earn profit. But thinking in an other point of view, water is the new blue ocean.

The water use has increased at more than twice the rate of the earth's population growth in the last century. And it is expected at the future, water management will become more important not only in a business view, but also in the humanitarian point of view.

In an act to solve water issues and develop the Water industry, The 4th Water Expo Korea has taken place at Daegu from Oct.28 to 30. This year's Water Expo Korea is more meaningful in the fact that Daegu Metropolitan City is planning to construct the"Korea Water Industry Cluster” by 2017, which will be able to help the companies expand overseas and establish businesses network. And this year International Water Nexus Conference, World Water Cities Forum and also other conferences will concurrently be held.

7th World Water Forum 2015 (Closing Ceremony)

The closing ceremony held from 14:00 at Convention Hall A on the 5^th floor. Around 700 attendees including Jung-moo Lee, Chairman of the National Committee for the 7^th World Water Forum, Benedito Braga, President of the World Water Council, Young-jin Kwon, Mayor of Daegu Metropolitan city, Kwan-yong Kim, Governor of Gyeongsangbuk-do province, Soontak Lee, Co-chair of the International Steering Committee, the delegation from Brazil, the host of the next World Water Forum, water experts, businesses, and citizens participated.

The closing ceremony included prize awarding ceremonies of the Kyoto World Water Grand Prize, Mexico Water Prize, and Daegu & Gyeongbuk Water Prize. During the Daegu & Gyeongbuk Water Prize ceremony, winners of the Water Showcase and World Water Challenge World Final, which focused on collecting excellent implementation cases from the world and innovative scientific and technological solutions to water challenges, received a trophy and a grant of KRW 3,0000,000 (approx. USD 27,680).

The Expo & Fair had and brilliant outcome.   It was held during the Forum week provided lots of networking opportunities such as the Water Business Forum.

Many debates, discussions, and presentations were held at national pavilions and other spaces, which were used for networking and business.

We thank you all for participants' enthusiasm for water.

The Opening Ceremony of the

7th World Water Forum has been held at April 12th(Sun.)

at EXCO, Daegu.
